Cancer survivors to be recognized

The Cayman Islands Cancer Society, along with Bosom Buddies and Lions Club of Tropical Gardens, is holding a Celebration of Life Tea Party to recognize cancer survivor in the community along with special guests and caregivers.

The event will take place Saturday at the Marriott Beach Resort, Orchid Ballroom at 3:30pm.

The Cancer Survivor Day event is being revived for the first time since Hurricane Ivan in 2004. It is an opportunity for cancer survivors, their families and caregivers to come together in a social setting and enjoy fellowship with one another, said a CICS press release.

The programme of entertainment includes Cayman’s very own cowboy – Andy Martin – along with the National Choir, Vicki Wheaton, Rebekah Jefferson and Georgetown Primary School children.

‘This event allows us to recognize the wonderful contributions these survivors have made to our community while affording them an ideal setting to chat, network, see old friends and hopefully make some new ones too,’ the release said.
