The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service has arrested one man on suspicion of robbery following an incident that happened Friday evening.
The 911 Emergency Communications Centre received a call at approximately 11.45pm from a man reporting that he had just been robbed in the car park of Sunset House, South Church Street. Police responded and the 37-year-old victim told officers that he was getting out of his car when two men approached him from behind. The victim said one of the men put what he thought was a gun to his head and demanded he hand over his cash, car keys and cell phone. The man says he handed over some items and the men fled from the scene in a black Toyota Windom car. The victim sustained some minor injuries during the incident, namely a bruise to his face.
Police launched a search for the vehicle and it was located travelling along Powell Smith Road in West Bay at around midnight. The vehicle was followed for a short distance before it crashed. Two men ran from the vehicle. Officers made chase and one of the men, a 30-year-old man from Prospect, was apprehended and taken into custody where he remains at this time.
