A group of 23 Cubans landed in Cayman Brac on Christmas morning, and seven more were spotted off Spot Bay on the north side of the island on 26 December, Immigration Department officials said.
Of those who arrived on Christmas, the majority disembarked and requested to be sent back to Cuba. The Immigration Department expects to transfer these 18 migrants – 17 males and one female – to Grand Cayman Friday.
The five remaining persons remained onboard and continued their journey.
The group that arrived on Boxing Day did not land, but continued their journey without assistance.
