Sunset blanked Scholars International 13-0 last Sunday at the North Side playing field to stay on top in the point standings of the Cayman Islands Football Association (CIFA) Simon Robshaw-Caytech Women’s Senior League competition. Sunset is now at 16 points just one ahead of Women’s United at 15 points.
Women’s United did their damage as well by defeating Latinos 7-1 at the East End playing field last Sunday.
Elite moved up to six points after clipping Future 1-0 at the East End playing field last Saturday.
Latinos remains on four points, defending champions Future on two and Scholars International still at the bottom having no point at all.
Scoring for Sunset were Tanya Chapman in the 50th 55th 56th and 77th , Sophia Roberts 5th, 14th,and 22nd, Rosemarie Geddes 8th and 37th , Leigh Bottomly in the 30th , Lisa Bodden in the 83rd, Allison Amos in the 85th and Olive McDonagh started the score sheet in the 3rd minute.
National Under-17 team representative Shenel Gall netted three times for Women’s United in the 38th, 40th and 66th minute, Somali Hall in the 20th and 50th, Shanice Monteith in the 36th and Krishan Welcome in the 43rd. Latinos netted their consolation goal in the 56th minute, it was scored by Martika Williams.
Telicia Ebanks scored the all important goal for Elite in the 22nd minute to land her team victory against Future.
Shenel Gall of Women’s United remains the top goal scorer with nine goals in hand, the other two contenders are Sophia Roberts and Rosemarie Geddes of Sunset. They both share five goals each.
The league continues this Saturday with two games scheduled to play at the North Side playing field.
At 4:00 pm Women’s United encounters Future and at 6:00 pm Sunset takes on Elite at the same venue.
The following Tuesday at 7:30 pm Scholars International will play Latinos at the North Side playing field.
