Vibe, CIIB feature small Cayman businesses

Small businesses across the Cayman Islands were recently featured during a week-long radio promotion to boost awareness of products and services available locally.

A VibeFM initiative, the Cayman Islands Investment Bureau sponsored the programme and coordinated the live interviews with entrepreneurs in each district. The interviews were held during the District Heritage Days of Pirates Week.

Approximately 21 entrepreneurs participated on Grand Cayman, and were interviewed by VibeFM’s Mike Fox, live on location at each business premises.

The show then hit the road to Cayman Brac on Saturday, 24 November where about five entrepreneurs shared their success stories with VibeFM listeners. VibeFM is one of only three local radio stations transmitting to the Sister Islands, the others being Radio Cayman and Rooster 101, states a press release.

‘We have found that one of the major challenges small businesses face is getting their message out to potential customers regarding what they offer,’ explains CIIB Executive Director Dr. Dax Basdeo, noting that most small business owners can’t afford to spend big on advertising. ‘Through our sponsorship of VibeFM’s District Heritage Day broadcast, which this year focused on small businesses, entrepreneurs received free airtime to tell their story and promote their business.’

VibeFM’s Mike Fox said: Every year we report on the cultural and historic elements at the heritage sites during Pirates Week, and this year we were thrilled to have the CIIB spearhead a greater focus on entrepreneurship and the small businesses currently operating in each district.’

Joining the VibeFM crew on the road for the live interviews were CIIB Marketing Communications Coordinator Olivia Scott, along with CIIB business advisors Charmaine Moss, Shannon Francis, Mr. Basdeo, and CIIB Deputy Director Pat Ullett. The CIIB staff provided background on the Bureau’s services during the interviews but most importantly, offered support in person to the business owners being featured.
