Fifty Year 1 students of Savannah Primary School, along with their teachers, visited Cayman Street at Boatswain Beach Friday.
Since the beginning of the year, the students have been learning about their Caymanian heritage and culture.
The lessons were taught under the theme ‘Cayman Tradition Influences Who We Are.’
At Cayman Street students learned how Cayman catboats were used in the daily livelihood of locals, the calavan and the fish pot.
Cayman Traditional Arts Coordinator Chris Christian also showed the students old Caymanian houses, straw land baskets, hats and whompers. After the tour the students enjoyed samples of fried fritters and lemonade.
