Careers expo this weekend

The Chamber of Commerce is reintroducing one of its most successful events – the Careers & Jobs Expo.

The event has not been held since Hurricane Ivan in 2004, states a press release. This year the Careers & Jobs Expo is held in partnership with the University College of the Cayman Islands and will take place on the UCCI Campus in the Sir Vassel Johnson Hall on Saturday.

Five Chamber members have come on board as Major sponsors this year: Butterfield Bank, Cayman National, Deloitte, Digicel and Health Services Authority. Many other companies representing the different industries including finance, law, hospitality, public services, law enforcement, medicine and several recruitment agencies will also be present.

UCCI and ICCI will have representatives available to answer any questions about higher education and how to improve your skills. Other types of training facilities will be represented including the Professional Development & Training Centre, a division of the Chamber of Commerce.

All senior students of the high schools and college students have been invited to attend Friday between 10am and 2pm.

This allocated time is for students only. The Careers & Jobs Expo will be open to the public the next day from 10am to 4pm. Anyone seeking employment or higher education is encouraged to attend.

All Chamber members are invited to attend a special Business After Hours marking the opening of the Careers & Jobs Expo 2008 and the release of the 2008 Financial Assistance, Scholarship & Training Guide. The event will take place at the Sir Vassel Johnson Hall at the UCCI Campus from 6pm to 8pm Friday. For more information call the Chamber on 949 8090 or visit
