Tourism deputy permanent secretary named

Chief Officer in the Ministry of Tourism, Environment, Investment and Commerce Mrs Gloria McField-Nixon, is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Oneisha Richards as Deputy Permanent Secretary for Tourism.

Ms Richards is a former marketing and promotions manager for Canada and Europe, as well as manager for e-business and market research in the Department of Tourism,

Welcoming Ms Richards to the Ministry, Mrs McField-Nixon said that she brings considerable technical and educational expertise and broad-based tourism experience to the position.

‘We are particularly pleased that the Ministry continues to attract highly qualified Caymanians to senior positions,’ Mrs McField-Nixon said. She noted that the Deputy Permanent Secretary with responsibility for the Environment, Samuel Rose, is another well qualified and recently appointed Caymanian.

Ms Richards graduated from Florida International University with a Bachelor of Science in Travel and Tourism Management and earned a Master’s degree in Marketing and E-commerce Management from the University of Maryland University College.

Ms Richards says she is proud for the opportunity to further serve her country. ‘I look forward to this new position as it aligns with my professional goal of involvement in the technical research and drafting of tourism policies. I believe that guiding the future sustainability of tourism is vital to Cayman’s future,’ she said.

She is married to Robert Scotland and has one child.
