Youngsters do well on track

The World Athletics Day Meet saw over 90 youngsters shine. John A Cumber Primary School was the site of all the action on Saturday, 17 May.

Among those who churned out a great performance was Red Bay Primary’s Bryan Walters, who won the 8-9 Boys Long Jump, 100m and placed second in the 150m events for that age group.

Bodden Town’s Justyn Powell also stood out. He won the 6-7 Boys Long Jump, 60m and 80m dashes and took third place in the ball throw event.

Shenelle Stewart of St. Ignatius along with Jouri Haylock and Amarrie Bodden of John A Cumber all won multiple events.

In the older divisions, Neville Marston, Chantelle Morrison, Christopher Sampson and Stephon Johnson all made a good showing in their events with good times.

Marston took the 14-16 Boys 100m and 200m dashes in 12.60seconds and 26.00s respectively, Morrison won the 14-16 Girls 100m in 12.70s, Sampson won the Men’s 100m in 11.20s and Johnson took the Men’s 200m in 23.00s.
