WestTel is the new title sponsor for five-a-side football at Kings.
Kings Sports Centre announced the partnership with the telecom company on Wednesday.
Among the features of the deal will be the renaming of Kings’ hockey rink to ‘WestTel Arena.’ In addition, the league will bear the company’s name.
The move comes on the heels of Digicel announcing a sudden end to its chief sponsorship two weeks ago.
With WestTel onboard, the five-a-side football programme will have a title sponsor for the start of the new season in June.
The arena is expected to host all five-a-side tournaments plus ongoing hockey programmes. Some 1,000 athletes are expected to use the facility.
Calvin Morton, vice president of sales for WestTel, said the company is keen to be involved
‘King’s has delivered tremendous benefit to our community. Their philosophy towards sports management mirrors our commitment to provide excellent service, quality and value to the residents of these islands.’
For Kings Sports Centre Athletic Director Ray Singh, the move cements five-a-side football as an important sport.
‘We have always strived to provide a strong community programme at King’s. Having the support of an enterprise, which recognises the importance of these programmes, is imperative for our continued success.
‘We are grateful that WestTel continues to be so very supportive of our ventures.’
