Involves death of Brian Rankine

Jason Ryan Hinds, 26, has been charged with being an accessory after the fact to the murder of Brian Adrian Rankine.

Hinds appeared in Summary Court Tuesday afternoon

Details of the charge are that, on Saturday, 17 May, knowing that another person had murdered Brian Adrian Rankine, Hinds did receive, transport and assist that other person in disposing of articles of clothing and weapons from the scene of the incident.

Hinds is a Jamaican national here on a work permit, Solicitor General Cheryll Richards informed Chief Magistrate Margaret Ramsay-Hale. Ms Richards asked that Hinds be remanded to Central Police Station because there were matters still to be resolved in the investigation.

Defence Attorney Edward Renvoize asked for the matter to be brought back in seven days.

It was set for next Tuesday, 3 June, at noon.

No one has yet been charged with Brian’s murder. His body was found in a car park in the vicinity of McField Lane, George Town, after midnight on 17 May. Brian was 20 years old.
