Hondurans will test Cayman

International football returns to the Truman Bodden Sports Complex where history unfolds with the staging of games between the Honduras National Under-20 Football team and the Cayman National Under- 23 team on June 14 and 15.

Cayman Islands football enthusiasts will be treated as the ‘Catrachos’ Under-20 will face the Cayman’s Islands Under-20 national football team coached by Gillie Seymour on Saturday June 14.

This event has been coordinated by Walter Hernandez President of the Tigers FC and is endorsed by the Cayman Islands Football Association.

Jeff Webb President of CIFA expressed his appreciation in the club’s great effort to assist in preparing the national Under 20 team for their upcoming tournament.

‘I am tremendously impressed with the efforts placed by Tigers FC in assisting the Under-20 team in its preparation for that crucial tournament coming up in July,’ Webb said.

‘On behalf of CIFA, I take this opportunity to thank Tigers FC for their support and would appreciate that kind of support from all the other registered clubs on our way forward in football development on the Cayman Islands.’

Since April the Cayman Islands team has been undergoing some serious training under the coaching of Seymour in preparation for the Under-20 CONCACAF Caribbean games.

Action continues the next day when the Central American powerhouse faces a select squad being organized by Tigers Football Club coach Ramon Calderon.

The select team will be a combination of the top players currently playing in the CIFA Foster’s Football League administrated by the association.

‘The event will be a display of competitive and intense foot work and skills as all three teams have been preparing for these friendly games for over a month now,’ said Hernandez.

Tickets for the event will be sold at Reflections, Luz Restaurant Hot Zone Sports, Latin Taste Restaurant, Steve’s Grocery Store, Atlantic Airlines Office and Expressions Boutique.
