CIS elects board

The Cayman Islands Cancer Society has announced its incoming board of directors elected at its recent annual general meeting.

Elected were Scott Elliott, chairman; Winston Connolly, vice chairman; Brett Hill, treasurer; Glenn Mitchell, secretary; Dr. Sook Yin, medical director; Hope Stephenson, patient services director; and Donovan Brummer, member’s representative.

Also elected as a director is Christine Sanders who has been the society’s general manager for a number of years and who has been named as chief operating officer by the board of directors. She will continue to be employed by the society and will focus on helping the board achieve the society’s goals and objectives.

In accepting the chairman’s role, incoming Chairman Scott Elliott, paid tribute to outgoing Chairman Victor Opitz, who has been a director of the society for the last five years, four of which was in the role of chairman.

The Cayman Islands Cancer Society is a non-profit organisation dedicated to preventing the development of cancer through its education programs and screening initiatives as well as to providing financial assistance to cancer patients and their families with treatment related expenses. The society also offers counselling and support to cancer patients and their families. The society funds its programs through donations and fundraising events.
