A 45-year-old woman has been hospitalised after the car she was driving collided with a horse Thursday night.
The 911 Emergency Communications Centre received a call around 11.30pm from a member of the public reporting that a car had collided with a horse on Shamrock Road, in the vicinity of Discover Drive.
Police and medics responded and found that the woman had been travelling east when her car struck the horse, which had walked into the road.
The woman was taken to hospital and received treatment for a suspected neck injury.
The Agriculture Department was told about the accident and a veterinarian officer responded to care for the horse, but the animal had to be put down because of its serious injuries.
The Royal Cayman Islands Police Traffic Management Unit and the Agriculture Department are trying to locate the owner of the horse. Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact the Traffic Management Unit on 946-6254.
