Another GT store robbery

The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service is investigating a robbery that took place at McRuss Grocery Store on Party Lane, George Town.

The 911 Emergency Centre received a call from a store worker reporting that a robbery had occurred at approximately 8.10pm Friday.

Police responded to the scene and were told that a 26-year-old female shop attendant was behind the counter when a masked man carrying a machete entered the store. The worker said the suspect came around the counter and demanded she hand over cash, which she did. A second store worker, accompanied by staff from neighbouring businesses, entered the store shortly afterward and the offender ran off.

The suspect is described as having a dark brown complexion, a slim build and was aged in his early 20’s. He was wearing a white coloured tam, a greyish T-shirt and dark coloured long pants.

A search was carried out in the area but the offender was not found.

Anyone with information, who has not yet spoken to a police officer, should contact Detective Constable Ronald Francis on 926-2578 or Crime Stoppers on 800-8477.
