Third power outage in a week

The lights went out again briefly Tuesday afternoon on Grand Cayman after an apparent electrical fault at the Caribbean Utilities Company plant in George Town.

The power cut resulted in several island districts including East End, West Bay, South Sound, the Smith Road and Industrial Park areas of George Town and other parts of the island losing electricity for a brief time.

CUC officials said they restored power within an hour of the outage occurring.

The power cut follows a near two hour outage on Monday which affected most of the island, and another island-wide outage which occurred last Wednesday and lasted a bit longer than two hours in some districts.
