The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service Drugs Task Force recovered 22 pounds of ganja during an operation Monday.
The drugs were found during a search on a vacant piece of land on Fairbanks Road. No arrests have been made in relation to the seizure.
‘I think it is safe to say that someone is hurting financially today,’ said RCIPS Superintendent Kurt Walton. ‘It is great news that these drugs have been taken off the streets and we will endeavor to identify who is involved with them.’
In a separate incident, officers arrested a 16-year-old boy and conducted a search of his home in Fern Circle.
A small amount of ganja was seized along with a butterfly knife, two bb guns and 4000 rounds of pellets for the guns. The teenager has since been released on police bail with strict conditions.
