The annual Foster’s 800 metres Sea Swim will go ahead tomorrow, a week after it was postponed because of choppy waters.
Around 125 swimmers are expected. Last year’s defending champion is Seiji Groome. First female overall was Jeanine Rix but she won’t be there to defend her title as she has moved off island.
This is the 24th running of the Foster’s Food Fair 800m Sea Swim. It starts at 4pm at Governor’s Beach, and finishes at Public Beach on West Bay Road.
With Foster’s backing, this is the longest continual sponsorship and is one of the most popular sea swims in the Cayman Islands Amateur Swimming Association’s Open Water Sea Swim Calendar.
The top three male and female finishers in all age group categories will be awarded with ‘bobble-head’ swim-trophies, which have proven very popular in the past.
Irrespective of finishing position, every swimmer will receive a T-shirt, refreshments donated by Gatorade and Le Bleu and pizza.
Participants will be required to wear swim-caps for safety reasons. The swim caps will be provided free upon registration.
Registration for the Foster’s Food Fair 800m Sea Swim will be held in the Governor’s Beach parking area prior to the race, from 3-3.45pm.
Entry fees for CIASA Members are CI$5 for children and CI$10 for adults, while non-members will pay CI$10 for children and CI$15 for adults.
