Morris makesmost of pitch

The ball continued to dominate the bat when the second practice match in the national senior cricket team preparations was played at Smith Road Oval.

Regular showers have left the cricket pitch very unpredictable restricting free flowing strokes. As a result, batsmen are struggling while bowlers are enjoying themselves.

Alessandro Morris is a man on a mission. Following up on an excellent return from two weeks ago, Morris picked up 4 wickets for 9 runs in 7 overs producing another perfect bowling performance. Kevin Bazil took 2 wickets for 19 runs.

Throughout the match, only Ryan Bovell who scored 29 runs was able to make a significant score.

Ifill’s XI lost their first 3 wickets for 18 runs before Bovell found useful partners in Alister Ifill 16 runs and Conroy Wright 23 runs. A late flourish from Wayne Cato of 18 runs took Ifill XI to 125 runs in 40 overs.

Kenute Tulloch 3 wickets for 23 runs, Kervin Ebanks 2 for 17 and Michael Wight 2 for 21 combined to restrict Pearson Best XI to 98 runs.

There are eight practice matches remaining and the selectors are hoping that beginning this Sunday the runs will begin flowing.
