The first long-distance event of the 2008 Open Water season, Zulu’s 2-mile Sea Swim, is being held this Saturday.
It’s at Governor’s Beach from 8.30am, with registration taking place from 7.30am in the Governor’s Beach parking lot.
Zulu’s 2-mile sea swim will consist of two one mile loops, centering on the Governor’s House.
The swim will allow Cayman’s swimmers a chance to see how fit they are for the upcoming Pirate’s Week 5k sea swim.
Medals will be provided to the top three male and female athletes in each age category, and after the race, each participant will receive a T-shirt and refreshments, including Red Bull drinks supplied by sponsor Zulu.
For safety considerations, all swimmers will be required to wear a Zulu swim cap, and a 1hr 45min time limit will be in effect to complete the 2-Mile course.
Swimmers under 12 are required to receive explicit permission from their swim coach and parents to register in the race, given the long-distance nature of the swim.
Organiser Bill McFarland said: ‘The Cayman Islands Amateur Swimming Association invites all swimmers from the local community to either participate or come out and watch on beautiful Seven Mile Beach, and would like to thank Zulu for their continued support for this event.’
