Nominations for the 2009 YCLA will be accepted up until Wednesday, October 15. Anyone interested in nominating a young Caymanian between the ages of 20 and 35 are encouraged to act now and contact Melissa Wolfe at [email protected].
Anyone may nominate a Caymanian of their choice for this prestigious award, including employers, employees, parents, siblings, coworkers, fellow church members, friends or spouses.
‘There are so many young leaders that deserve the recognition, but it is up to the public to take the time and nominate them for the YCLA,’ stressed Melissa Wolfe, Foundation Coordinator,
‘The Foundation relies entirely on the community to bring our young Caymanians to the forefront.’
The 2007 YCLA recipient Canover Watson also emphasized the importance of supporting the awards.
He said: ‘The first and most important rule of leadership is that they can’t do it alone. Our young leaders need your support now.
‘Please nominate one of our shining stars for the YCLA so they can burn bright for all our young people to see that they too can reach for the stars.’
Each year, five finalists are selected from the nominations put forward by the community and the young leaders are then honored at the annual gala evening awards ceremony, televised live on Cayman27 where the recipient of the YCLA will be announced.
