No Walk for Pirates

the first finals match of the year, the Walkers Wonders face the Hammerheads Pirates tomorrow at the Dart Field.

Having defeated the Pirates twice in the regular season, the Wonders are the apparent favourites going in.

However, both initial games went down to the wire with Walkers making the key plays down the stretch to propel them to victory.

Two of the top quarterbacks in the league will be on display in this game; Jordana Clarke and Ali Amos. Also featured will be the multi talented Krishan Welcome and receiver Christina Bisnauth so it’s fair to assume a high scoring game.

However, many believe the Wonders are poised to win this game due to their defense lead by Malaqui Lovinggood and Isatou Sey.

The Wonders were the number one offensive team this season being able to manufacture points in every way imaginable but their overall defense was second in the league which may have went unnoticed.

A few key stops by the Wonders defense will be the difference.

In the men’s final, the Doghouse Bulldogs and Caybrew Farm Soldiers meet for league supremacy. Caybrew have been a pleasant surprise in making the final for the second straight year.

Coming off an impressive win over the Goldfield Hellcats (previous champions) in the semi-finals, they’re heading in with confidence.

For Dog House, all the pieces are in place to win their first championship. Offensively and defensively balanced for the first time in team history, they’re the favourites heading in.

Johnny Mack has been efficient and productive all year leading his team to an impressive 11-1 record during the regular season. Their title hopes fall on his shoulders.

The last time these two teams faced each other, they went to triple overtime finishing in a tie. That was only two weeks ago.

Many predict the same kind of grind out game but with Dog House making a key play down the stretch to win it all.
