A football fan will be able to travel to matches in style now because he has won a brand new car through the generosity of a major sponsor.
Gary Blake drove away the Advance Chevrolet Spark last Sunday after winning the car at the half time break of the friendly game played at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex between Jamaica and Cayman Islands.
Blake took one shot and placed the ball into the trunk of the car from ten yards out much to the delight of the full capacity crowd who attended the game.
Advance Chevrolet who became the official car for the national team last March had in place as part of the sponsorship package for the national side a car that any lucky patron could win by kicking the ball into the open trunk of the car from ten yards.
This company had a humble beginning in 1996 as a small service shop behind Kirk Motors. Advance Automotive is now Advance Chevrolet – the exclusive sales and service dealer of Chevrolet cars and trucks in the Cayman Islands.
Advance Chevrolet boast a modern state of the art facility with over 11,500 square feet, housing eight service bays, ample parking, 3840 sq ft. glass front showroom and a huge selection of brand new exciting Chevrolet vehicles.
Blake said that he feels fantastic about his success in placing the ball inside the trunk to become the proud owner of this car which has been on display for a long time with many persons making failed attempts to win it.
‘Its just joy for me, I was surprised when my number was called but I knew that I would win it,’ Blake said. ‘I was confident from I heard my number called. I am really glad to have won this car and I look forward to enjoying the use of it.’
Jeffrey Webb, president of the football association said he was glad that Blake had won the car adding that he did well as several persons had tried before without success.
‘I am extremely proud of Advance Chevrolet who have come on board to assist with the football program and also to make patrons happy as well,’ Webb said.
‘I thank Advance Chevrolet for taking this giant step in supporting our young footballers. It is only through partnerships such as this that Cayman Islands Football will achieve the level of advancement we all desire from the sport.’
