A Family Literacy Fair will be held 29 November.
The event is produced by the Rotaract Club of Grand Cayman, the Cayman Islands Public Library Service and The National Parenting Programme.
The event will last from 10.30am – 3pm at the John Gray High School Assembly Hall.
It aims to promote literacy as a core value in the Cayman Islands.
Specific programmes throughout the day will be geared toward helping parents to understand that the home is the child’s first school, the parent is the child’s first teacher and that reading is the child’s first subject.
The event is free to the public and will include a variety of fun activities, including: parental workshops, storytelling, dramatic performances, puppet shows and musical entertainment.
Booths will be set up by the sponsors to display different literacy outreach services and projects. Educational games and several displays of student writings will also be on display. Refreshments, books and tickets for a Grand Prize Raffle will be available. For more information, visit the Rotaract Club’s website at www.rotaractky.org
