Windies package won’t hit your wallet for six

Anyone in Cayman wishing to watch the first Test between the West Indies and England next month, should check out a Jamaican sports event company for tickets for the Test there.

It’s at Sabina Park, Kingston from Wednesday 4-Sunday 8 February.

Purple Dragon promotions is a sports planning and event promotions company based in Kingston, run by sports marketer Paulton Gordon and sports journalist Courtney Wallace.

Gordon has over 10 years experience in the industry. He has worked as the National Sports Director where he developed a strong relationship with the Jamaican sporting fraternity including sporting associations, community groups, and corporate entities.

His training includes a master’s degree in Tourism Administration and specialized training under an IOC programme coordinated by the Olympic solidarity movement. He has sat on a number of committees formed by local sporting associations to plan and implement projects and was involved in the Cricket World Cup 2007.

Gordon helped put together Al Hamilton inaugural Caribbean Sports Icons Awards event at the Pegasus Hotel in Kingston, two months ago.

Wallace works at IRIE FM and has assisted a number of sporting associations in planning and coordinating programmes.

He has focused a lot on boxing and was instrumental in soliciting resources and equipment to setup a well needed gym in Montego Bay. His experience include coordinating the visit of international basketball celebrities and facilitating tours and coaching opportunities for inner-city and rural youth interested in the sport.

‘Our packages are very good value,’ Paulton said. ‘Our single occupancy package of 4 nights/ 5 days is $610 per person and double occupancy of 4 nights/5 days is only $480 per person.’

Their package includes accommodation with breakfast, airport transfers and match tickets (3 days), plus ground transportation to and from Sabina Park.

Paulton added: ‘Tour groups will be housed in bed and breakfast facilities certified and approved by the Jamaica Tourist Board and the Tourism Product Development Company. We have certified tour available and dinner arrangements can be made at popular restaurants in Kingston.’
