Customers of Caribbean Utilities Company were told their power was about to be cut off this month when the power company mistakenly printed its bills on disconnection notice paper.
CUC has issued public service announcements on radio and in newspapers informing customers of the mistake and assuring them they will not be disconnected – unless they really have not paid their bills, of course.
The utilities company’s spokeswoman Pat Bynoe-Clarke said the problem had arisen when the wrong paper was run through the printer on which the bills were printed.
‘The bills were inadvertently printed on the wrong paper. We apologise to our customers for any inconvenience this has caused,’ she said.
Customers who are not in arrears more than three months will not be disconnected, CUC assured customers. Bill payments as usual are due 21 days from the billing date shown on the bill.
