The Water Authority recently hosted a successful Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours at Red Gate Road to celebrate 25 years of service.
Over 200 members and Water Authority customers were in attendance for the event, which was themed ‘Using Water Wisely’. Gelia Frederick van Genderen, director of the Water Authority informed the guests about the Water Authority’s recent addition of Gift Certificates and the commemorative stamp that was issued on the 16th of October for the Water Authority’s 25th Anniversary as well as providing an update on other activities.
Chamber President Mr. Eddie Thompson spoke at the event of the importance of water conservation and congratulated the Water Authority on their green efforts. Environmental Advocacy and Responsible Development is a key strategic initiative for the Chamber for 2009.
‘Cayman’s natural resources are being depleted and we must strike a balance between development and the environment,’ said Mr. Thompson. ‘The Chamber is proud to be involved with the Water Authority this evening in encouraging the community to be more conscious of the amount of water we use.’
In keeping with the theme of the event, each guest received a complimentary reusable shopping bag upon arrival with surprise gifts inside such as a water-saving shower head.
