With the 2009 Humane Society Charity Kickball Tournament set to take place tomorrow, business owners island-wide are rushing to the aid of the Sunset Women’s Football Club (planners of this event), and donating prizes offered for a raffle which will raise funds for the Humane Society roof replacement.
One business owner is a dedicated Humane Society supporter and Cayman underwater photography icon, Cathy Church.
She said: ‘The Humane Society needs all the help they can get and I am pleased to donate one of the first prints from my new collection.’
The print she is speaking of was taken in Papua New Guinea and will be featured in her newest Abstracts collection to be unveiled in full next month. This print is autographed and numbered as the first print created; it is nothing short of a collector’s item.
‘As a fan of her work, and having seen this new collection first hand, we are truly honoured to have such a unique and thoughtful prize to give away; Cathy has truly outdone herself,’ said organiser Patrick Bourque from DHL. ‘So much so, that we are holding a special silent auction during the event specifically for this one-of-a-kind collectible.’
To date, the organising committee has raised close to $8,000 in prizes for the raffle and registered 23 teams for the tournament.
He added: ‘We are aiming to give away at least $10,000 in prizes and raise $10,000 for the Humane Society and Sunset Football Club and at the rate we are going, we are going to smash those targets.
‘If it wasn’t for the help of our sponsors, the corporate community entering teams, and business owners such as Cathy donating prizes, this event would not be possible.
This is great news for the CI Humane Society, and the Sunset Football Club, who are in need of funding for basic equipment.
This all-day event is at the Field of Dreams from 10am. To donate a prize, register a team or for more info, contact:
