Beach volleyball enthusiasts, interested in becoming certified referees, are invited to join renowned international beach volleyball referee Darryl Friesen for a training clinic from Saturday, 21 February – Tuesday, 24 February.
The clinic, which includes both practical and theoretical elements, precedes the NORCECA (North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation) beach volleyball tournament that will be held in Grand Cayman from 27-29 March by the Cayman Islands Volleyball Federation (CIVF).
Mr Friesen was invited to facilitate the course in preparation for the games by CIVF President Noel Williams.
‘For the first time in Cayman’s history we will host part of NORCECA’s Beach Volleyball Circuit,’ Mr Williams commented. ‘Thirty-two men’s and women’s teams, including teams from Cayman, the Caribbean, and North- and Central America will compete for prize money and points for qualification towards future events’ he added.
Successful clinic participants will therefore have an opportunity to put their skills into action if they wish to.
The course will be hosted in the Portfolio of the Civil Services’ conference room on the 2nd floor of the Cayman Corporate Centre from 9am – 5pm on 21st and 22nd February, then at the West Bay Road public beach from 5pm -9pm on 23rd and 24th February. The CIVF will provide lunch during the first two clinic days.
‘I am very excited to have been invited to act as the course clinician,’ Mr. Friesen commented. ‘I look forward to arriving and meeting everyone soon. I have no doubt that this will be a most successful endeavour for all those involved.’
Persons interested in the course may either contact CIVF President Noel Williams at 916-3124; Fareed Hosein at 925-4317; or Keith Higgins at 916-0038
