The Barefoot Man, aka George Nowak, will travel to Guana Cay, one of the Abaco Islands in the Bahamas, in early March.
For the past seven years Barefoot Man has been visiting Guana Cay to perform a concert for the locals.
This year, however, the island has decided to stage a larger welcome for the musician, and will host a three-day musical festival at Nippers Bar and Grill.
Running from 6 to 8 March, the festival will feature Barefoot performing alongside fellow Caymanian act Sea’n’B, Trinidadian steel drum player Earl Lapierre and Bahamian musicians Stone McEwan and the Fire and Goat Peppers band,
‘Abaco is my second home,’ said Mr. Nowak. ‘We just love it there and our annual visit is the highlight of our many tours.’
Owner Johnny Roberts first brought Barefoot to the island in 2002, when he performed with Mr. McEwan. This extended event will include both an outdoor performance by Barefoot Man and Sea’n’B and a lower-key, indoor performance in Nippers’ new enclosed dining room.
Barefoot’s latest CD, titled Barefoot’s Bahamas Best, will be released during the concert weekend at Nippers.
