Nelson double does the trick

Defending champions Scholars International FC struggled to turn back Roma FC 3-2 in extra time in defense of the FA Cup at the Ed Bush Stadium in West Bay last Sunday.

Both teams were locked at 2-2 at regulation time forcing the game into extra time.

Nikolai Hill sent the defending champions ahead in the 10th minute. Horace Nelson put Scholars two up in the 34th minute.

Roma responded in the second half with two goals, both from penalties.

It was a tussle as both teams desperate to reach the next level of the competition battled for the clincher.

Horace Nelson became the hero when he netted the crucial goal in the 99th minute.

At that same venue in the game between Future SC and Latinos FC it was the Spanish speaking team who advanced with a 2-1 score line.

Future took the lead in the first half. Latinos rebounded in the second half with goals coming from Alfredo Challenger and Allean Grant in the 65th and 68th minute earning their place in the quarter finals.

At the Annex on Saturday First Division team North Side lost 3-0 to Premier League’s Sunset in their bid at the FA Cup.

Allan Kelly netted in the 10th minute, Roy Forbes in the 26th and James Kennedy in the 75th for Sunset.

The draw for the quarter finals will take place soon.
