Elite returned to their winning ways unleashing their wrath on Foster’s First Division team East End with a 6-0 beating.
It was the quarter-finals of the Cayman Islands Football Association FA Cup on Sunday at the newly refurbished G. Haig Bodden Play field in Bodden Town.
Goal scorers were Calvin Jefford (two), Gabriel Godet, Jairo Sanchez, Renford Barnes and Rene Carter. Elite lost for the first time this season to Sunset last week.
Elite moved like a well tuned engine in the second half after taking the lead in the 10th minute of the first half with a goal from the prolific Jefford.
In the second half the East Enders under the coaching of Thiago Cunha were no match for the Digicel Cup champions as the Godet brothers aided by the persistent Sanchez and the magical Carter kept their defence line on their feet.
In the 54th minute the goal feast started when Gabriel Godet picked up a ball from Carter and sent it past keeper Dexter Benliss.
East End lost focus and it was Kemar Sanderson and Roderick Pearson who bore the brunt of the attacks fighting relentlessly to keep the charging Elite at bay.
Benliss could be labelled a hero for not allowing more goals to pass as Elite team to rain shots at East End.
The efforts of East End’s striker Carson Fagan going forward were aborted at every attempt by the defence line led by Abijah Rivers assisted by Nicholas Ebanks and Dominic Godet in goal.
The game was 3-0 in the 69th minute when Sanchez flicked in his goal at the advantage of a flat footed and distracted defence line.
Jefford completed his double in the 73rd minute when with the keeper alone to beat, lobbed the ball over his head.
Two minutes later technical director of Elite Gregory Ebanks made three substitutions putting on Arden Rivers, Renford Barnes and Chris Welcome.
It was business as usual as Barnes showed the coach that his presence on the field was worthwhile, scoring in the 78th minute.
Carter hit the sixth with one minute left.
