Cayman’s Linda Clark was the top award recipient in the June 2008 ACCA qualification exams.
Ms Clark received awards for Top Performer in the essentials, skills and options modules, and crowned off her achievement by copping the ACCA/ICATT Best Overall award. This award is given to the affiliate who completes the entire examination programme within five sittings at the first attempt over a period of three years at maximum. No easy feat, as most accounting students will attest.
Brenda Lee Tang, Head of Corporate Development at the ACCA Caribbean office and Paula Marcelle-Irish, Manager of Northern Caribbean, recently paid a visit to Ms Clark at the KPMG Cayman Islands office where they presented her with her awards and certificates.
‘Linda must be congratulated on this exceptional achievement. I am confident that news of her success will inspire others to follow in her footsteps,’ said Ms Lee Tang.
There are currently almost 100 students pursuing the ACCA qualification in the Cayman Islands, which Ms Clark registered for in January 2006; and sat her first exam in June of that year. Ms Clark has completed this qualification in just two years, which is an accomplishment that takes some affiliates more time to complete.
Upon receiving her exam results, she was immediately promoted to Senior Accountant in Audit (Structured Finance department) and has recently been seconded to KPMG in Sydney, Australia where she will take up a similar post in the Financial Services department.
‘The ACCA qualification has enabled me to work and study in the Cayman Islands and to accumulate my professional experience whilst also taking the exams. This is not possible with some of the other accounting programmes. In addition, as the qualification is internationally recognised, it has facilitated my mobility globally within the KPMG network,’ said Ms Clark who has become an ACCA member since completing her examinations.
