Members and friends of the Lions Club of Tropical Gardens recently treated the residents of the Pines retirement home to a day of pampering and pleasure.
Some residents received manicures, while others indulged in hand massages. Other residents were treated to having their hair brushed or combed.
The Lions also had a sing-a-long session with the residents who suggested their favourite songs or choruses.
Reverend Mary Graham also prayed with some of the residents.
Members of staff were not left out of the afternoon of fun.
The Lions presented staff member with a basket of fruit, with bananas, grapes and melons, as a token of the Club’s appreciation for their unfailing service to the residents of the home.
They also surprised a nurse who was celebrating her birthday with a cake.
To end the day, the Lions presented the residents of the home with a gift of 24 bibs.
The Lions said they would continue to visit the Pines and through its Geriatrics and Social Services Committee, will meet with the residents every second Saturday of each month from 11am to 2pm.
Members of the community and relatives of the residents are invited to attend and join with the Lions in making these visits extra special for these residents.
