Week 3 of the AndroGroup Summer Touch League was yet again full of razor sharp games which were brimming with down to the last second action.
With no scheduling difficulties caused by the sporadic downpours on the South Sound rugby ground, six games in both the premier and social division were recorded throughout the week.
As expected, the players in both divisions are tightening their belts defensively as the majority of the games played were low scoring affairs. Half of the games played were won by only a one point margin, two ended in hard fought draws and only Campbells, Five Nations and Maples 2 were able to record heavy victories.
Deloitte 2 recorded their first win of the season in the social division and handed DART their first loss. DART were left reeling after a hotly contested disallowed try from Ben Cullen left them one point adrift from Deloitte.
DART were kept in close contention throughout thanks to the stellar efforts of local boy Badir Awe who recorded DART’s only points with a hat-trick.
Not to be outdone by Awe’s showing in Division 2, Campbells speedster Johnny Doak bagged a massive five tries against CIBC to launch himself to the top of the try scorers table. Doak’s five try haul has only taken him above Scott MacDonald of Maples 1 who recorded a five try effort in week 2 but failed to record any points in week 3.
In the Premier Division Ogier were subjected to their second heavy defeat of the season against 5 Nations who are yet to suffer a loss thanks in no small part to the steady performances of Steve Henshaw and Mick Kehoe.
Ogier will be looking to bounce back in week 4 against KPMG who have struggled after an early strong showing in the premier division.
Deloitte and Harmonic, both of whom are yet to record a win so far this season fancy their chances against each other this week also with Harmonic only slight favourites with a better points difference so far this season!
