Co-ed squads go swinging for the fences

This week sees the return of co-ed softball.

The Fall 2009 season of adult co-ed softball is under way at the Field of Dreams facility in George Town.

Some 21 teams are confirmed to be playing in this version of the league.

As usual the squads are spilt into three divisions. The A league sees nine teams and offers competition at a highly skilled level. The B league features 11 teams and offers spirited action with a fun side.

At this point there is only one C league team though three clubs are on the verge of signing up.

Both the A and B leagues have been in action. On Monday four games went in the books.

B league stalwarts Doghouse battled City Slickers (formerly team CML) while Master Batters took on Cayman Coolers at field four. Winter league powerhouse KPMG Bounty Hunters fought PWC B before Senor Frogs took on new team Dolphin Cove on field three.

Games continue tonight with four games on tap. Balls will start flying from 6:30pm when A league regulars KM Ltd take on KPMG A at field four.

At the same time Julius Baer, fresh off their C league title in the winter, look to start off on the right foot against the Hellcats. Time will tell if the Hellcats are as good in softball as they are in flag football.

At 8:15pm the second batch of games get under way as the Caybrew Chuggers battle the ‘I and I Trojans’ on field four. B league stalwarts Ritz Carlton Jesters and Maples Sluggers then go into action on field three.

Time is still left to latch on with a team. Interested persons are asked to call league co-ordinator Alan Markoff at 325-6824 or e-mail him at [email protected].
