A Royal Cayman Islands Police Service road block over the weekend resulted in the arrest of two men on suspicion of possession of an illegal firearm.
The block was conducted on West Bay Road in the vicinity of the Courtyard Marriot in the early hours of Saturday morning. As a result of the block, a vehicle was searched, a weapon was recovered and the two males in the vehicle were arrested.
The weapon has since been examined and it has been determined that the weapon is a flare gun. The two men aged 24 and 27 have been released on bail pending further enquiries.
The RCIPS stated the organization will continue with road blocks in an effort to disrupt the movements of criminals, identify and bring offenders to justice and provide reassurance to the community.
