Sir Viv returns

Many West Indies legends, including Sir Vivian Richards, Joel Garner and Courtney Walsh, will adorn the celebrated Kensington Oval in Barbados for the inaugural staging of an international masters tournament.

Organisers Cricket Legends of Barbados Inc have labelled the over-35 age-group event from 27 November-5 December, the CLOBI International Cup, carrying a winning prize of US$50,000.

Former stars from England, South Africa, and Sri Lanka will also appear at the tournament and CLOBI organisers announced at a press

Other past West Indies players booked to appear include Gordon Greenidge, Collis King and Jimmy Adams.

Local ex-internationals Courtney Browne, Sherwin Campbell, Vasbert Drakes and Ian Bradshaw are also in the West Indies line-up along with Nevisian Stuart Williams, Jamaican Nehemiah Perry and still active Grenadian Rawl Lewis.

England’s squad should include Graham Thorpe, Mark Ramprakash, Dominic Cork, Neil Fairbrother, John Emburey and Caribbean-born players Devon Malcolm and Phil Defreitas.

South Africa will be represented by Lance Klusener, Brian McMillan, Dale Benkenstein, Paul Adams, and Pat Symcock and the strong-looking Sri Lanka squad is set to include Asanka Gurusinghe, Arjuna Ranatunga, Marvan Atapattu, Hashan Tillakaratne, and Russel Arnold.

Garner, who is the Barbados Cricket Association president, plans to use the event to motivate young players.
