An armed robbery at Margaritaville in downtown George Town Friday morning forced authorities to close off the adjacent shopping centre during their search for the suspects
Tourists were asked to leave the stores while police investigated.
Royal Cayman Police said two men that witnesses indicated were armed, one with a gun and one with a knife, entered the upstairs section of the business around 8.30am.
A Margaritaville manager told the Caymanian Compass that there were actually three men involved in the heist, but police could not confirm that.
Witnesses also said one of the suspects pointed a gun at one of the business’s employees.
An undisclosed amount of cash was taken.
No injuries were immediately reported.
