Royal Cayman Islands Police have confirmed that two men were detained Tuesday morning at the Quik Cash money transfer store.
However, detectives denied earlier reports that the two individuals had tried to rob the Shedden Road business.
“No robbery or attempted robbery was reported,” a police press release indicated. “However, police received a call from a concerned employee of the business who thought they may have recognised two men from the previous robbery (at Quik Cash) on 23 September.”
RCIPS officers said the two men were detained to “assist police in their enquiry.”
According to witnesses in the 23 September heist, two men entered the Quik Cash store just after 10am. One of them allegedly threatened the store clerk with a gun.
The men then left through the front entrance a few minutes after. RCIPS officers were scouring the alley immediately adjacent to the Bodmer Building where the Quik Cash store is located, but no arrests were immediately reported.
