Hurley’s Hawks stay top

The mid-term break offers a time for many youth sports to catch a breather.

Youth hockey may have done so last Saturday but the standings indicate there is loads of excitement on the way this weekend.

The WestTel Arena at Kings Sports Centre is expected to be alive with puck slapping from 8am to 4pm on Saturday.

Heading into those games every division is up for grabs. The Pee Wee (13U) segment sees the Five Continent Leafs (3-2) fighting to keep up with rookie sensation the Hurley’s Hawks (3-1) while the Appleby Sharks are in the hunt at 2-2.

The Atom (10U) division sees the KPMG Senators (3-0-1) just ahead of the Animal House Penguins (2-1-1) and the LOM Capitals (2-2).

Lastly the Novice (8U) segment has a fierce two-way battle between the XN Financial Flames and the dms Bruins, both 3-2.

Not far behind are the Coldwell Banker Rangers and the Walkers Blue Iguanas, both 2-3.
