Hotels help beautify school

Staff from the Ritz-Carlton and Marriott hotels joined forces recently to participate in a beautification project at the John A. Cumber Primary School in West Bay.

Among other activities, the team pruned trees, manicured flora, planted flowers and other foliage, and painted murals on the walls along the school’s corridors.

Kurt Christian, the assistant director of loss prevention at the Ritz-Carlton orchestrated the event.

David Samms, the engineering/landscape manager at the Ritz-Carlton spearheaded the landscaping while the Marriott’s human resources director Fernando Soler oversaw work the work on the mural paintings.

School principal Joseph Wallace, staff and students said they were profoundly appreciative to the team for this initiative.

Since the beginning of the academic year, the Ritz Carlton Grand Cayman has embarked on a partnering programme with the John A. Cumber Primary School and this undertaking is one of a series that it will be involved in during the school year.
