Premier is back

The Cayman Islands Football Association Premier League competition resumes on Sunday with four sets of games.

At the TE McField Sports Complex Roma meets Sunset at 5pm and at 7pm at this same venue George Town encounters top of the table team Scholars International.

Over in Bodden Town at the G Haig Bodden Sports Complex Bodden Town FC hosts Tigers FC at 5pm and Elite SC takes on Future SC at 7pm.

According to the league standings Scholars International leads with 24 points after 11 rounds of matches. George Town and Tigers follow with 20, Bodden Town on 16, Future on 13, Elite and Sunset on 12 and Roma on 11.

The league will take a break on 24 January when the second leg of the CIFA Digicel Cup semis takes place at the TE McField Sports Complex.

This Premier League competition will be getting more intense during this round as the teams play at their best to capture the titles up for grabs this season.

Defending champions Elite have not showed any real efforts to defend their title to date. They are basically struggling. However, they might just get serious and display some higher level of performance later in the competition and prove themselves to be true champions.

Scholars International has been the toughest team over the years. They started out this season with good intentions but seem to have become too complacent. With the transfer window open it will be fascinating to see who goes and who comes to Scholars International as they continue to do what is best to become champions.
