One man died and two others suffered injuries following a late night car crash on Shamrock Road in Lower Valley Friday.
Royal Cayman Islands Police also said that two men have been arrested in relation to the wreck
Police said a Honda Torneo and a Toyota Altezza were both travelling east on Shamrock Road around 10.20pm Friday when the accident occurred.
As the driver of the Honda attempted to negotiate a right hand bend near Will T. Road, police said he apparently lost control of the vehicle and collided with a concrete fence. Police said the vehicle spun and debris flew across the roadway, striking two oncoming vehicles. The four male occupants of the Honda where thrown from the car.
The Toyota, which had been travelling close behind, collided with the Honda, police said.
Three passengers from the Honda were taken to George Town Hospital.
A 23-year-old man was pronounced dead upon arrival at hospital. The two other passengers, aged 21 and 23, are being treated for minor head injuries and leg injuries respectively.
The 20-year-old Honda driver survived and has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
No injuries were suffered by anyone travelling in the Toyota. However, the 23-year-old male driver has been arrested on suspicion of DUI and dangerous driving.
No one in the vehicles that were struck by debris was injured.
The RCIPS traffic department is appealing for any witnesses to the accident to contact the traffic department on 946-6254.
