Pancake Day Tuesday goes downtown

X107.1 is bringing the Pancake Day
celebration to Cayman. On the day before the Mardi Gras festivities kick off,
Chloe of X107.1’s The Morning X will be broadcasting live from the George Town
post office handing out free pancakes and Quench juices to passersby.

“I love my job! Getting to be
outside interacting with the people of Cayman on their way into work, whilst
indulging in pancakes and delicious juices – I am excited! For those who are
not familiar with Pancake Day – it is also known as Shrove Tuesday or Fat
Tuesday and is celebrated all over the world with fun, games, and of course a
lot of eating,” she said.

Between 7.30 and 9.30am she will
give away pancakes, courtesy of Food for Thought and juices – thanks to the
team at Quench Cayman.

Observed annually, Pancake Day, is
most succinctly understood as a day of indulgence, which marks the beginning of
the 40-day Lenten fasting period.  The
Shrove Tuesday pancake tradition lives on throughout Western Europe, the United
States, Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom. Traditionally, pancakes were
popular as families ate the last of the eggs and butter that they were allowed
before Lent.

Commented Karla Jackson on behalf
of sponsor Quench Cayman, “We are delighted to have signed on along with X107.1
to bring the long-standing international celebration to the Cayman Islands.
Treat your palate to some delicious freebies on your way into work – the
perfect way to start your day! With many people make sacrifices during the Lent
period, indulge yourself one last time with a scrumptious pancake – and quench
your thirst with our mouth-watering juice samples.”
