Scorpions stinging now

Co-ed softball has been in full
swing recently. Games have taken place throughout the week at the Field of
Dreams facility in George Town.

With the season already halfway
done it is pertinent now to see how far the teams have come.

In the A league (which features eight
sides) Home Gas remain la crème de la crème. The A1 division frontrunners are
5-1 and a game in front of 4-1
Island Taste Hot Stuff.
KM Ltd are hanging on at 3-2 while Jose’s Escape are struggling at 2-4.

Rookie team the AL Thompson Hammers
are impressing all at 4-1 atop the A2 division. Rumbling into second are the Caybrew
Chuggers at 3-3. KPMG A are third at 2-3, Master Batters are 1-3 and the Swiss
Global (formerly Julius Baer) Bears are amazingly winless at 0-4.

Over in the B division Triple Crown
are the lone unbeaten side in co-ed softball at 5-0 atop the B1 division. The
Doghouse Glovernauts are in hot pursuit at 3-2, last year’s Cinderella Maples
Sluggers are third at 1-3 and Deloitte are in the cellar at 1-5.

Walkers have muscled their way atop
the B2 division at 4-1 thanks to the most prolific offense in co-ed softball
(scoring 97 runs). PWC B are second at 2-3, KPMG Bounty Hunters are also 2-3
and Electratech Pure Energy have yet to win at 0-5.

Arguably the biggest surprise is
the competitiveness of the C league. The “social league” sees rookies AL
Thompson Drills atop the ranks at 3-1 thanks to a defense that has allowed just
37 runs while the Ritz Carlton Lions are second at 3-2.

Lurking behind them are the PWC
Scorpions at 3-4. Thanks to the likes of Minori Honda the squad has scored the
most runs (66) in the division and beaten two B league squads already.
