Brac post office burgled

Cayman Brac
police are investigating a burglary at the Watering Place Post Office.

Royal Cayman
Islands Police said sometime between 11.30 a.m. on Saturday and 9.00 a.m. Monday
morning, a filing cabinet was stolen from the post office.

The three
drawer, cream coloured cabinet contained a small amount of cash, stamps and
cell phone top up cards, police said.

“The cabinet
is heavy therefore it’s likely that a vehicle may have been used to transport
it,” Police Constable John Morrison said. “I would ask anyone who saw anything
suspicious in the area of the Post Office over the weekend to contact me.”

RCIPS Chief
Inspector Malcolm Kay said this incident was the second burglary on the Brac to
be reported in two weeks. In the other incident, a washer and drier set were
taken from a vacation home.

“Unfortunately
times are changing and, even on the Brac, if people see an opportunity to make
a quick buck then they will take that opportunity,” Mr. Kay said. “Together we
need to do everything we can to cut down the possibility of our homes and
businesses being violated.”

Anyone with
information about the burglary, or who wishes to meet with CI Kay, should
contact Cayman Brac police station on 948-0331. Information about the crime can
also be passed to Crime Stoppers 800-8477 (TIPS).
