Football action turns to the FA Cup
over the weekend with some terrific games at two venues.
The competition has reached the
quarter-finals of the Cayman Islands Football Association 2010 FA Cup on Sunday.
Defending champions Bodden Town play
last season’s beaten finalists Elite at the Ed Bush Stadium in West Bay at 7pm
while at 5pm at the same venue Roma take on the prowling Tigers.
In George Town Digicel Cup
champions and second placed Premier League team George Town take on Premier
League leaders Scholars International at 7:pm and at 5pm Sunset face First
Division team Latinos FC.
Champions Bodden Town surprised
Elite in the FA Cup final last season so there will be an element of wanting
revenge by the West Bay side.
Bodden Town waltzed away with the
First Division title last term and when they met Elite in the final were
expected to fold against a team that had already won the Premier League and
Digicel Cup. They ignored predictions and pulled off a marvellous victory.
Roma United are in a rich vein of
form despite desperately trying to rise above the relegation zone. They play
attractive football but lack the killer touch in front of goal.
Roma’s style will perfectly
complement the equally fast pattern of Tigers who are this season’s surprise
Roma’s last trophy was the Digicel
Cup two years ago when Wayne ‘Bigga’ Smith menaced the opposition. Since then
they have been playing well but not scoring as they should although Dwayne
‘Gaza’ Wright has been popping them in of late.
Tigers unlike last season when they
escaped relegation from the Premier League have been playing extremely well
this season and will definitely pose a problem to the Jamaicans.
Sunset are struggling in the
Premier League so will not find it easy against Latinos.
