Engage 2010 comes to Cayman

Cayman will host a significant
wedding industry summit once more this year.

The Engage!10 event is described as
a high-impact luxury wedding business summit and is geared toward professionals
looking to take their business to the next level.

There will be three days of
seminars, talks and networking opportunities between 7 and 10 June at the
Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman.

Speakers include Darcy Miller, Sean
Low and Cindy Novotny and organisers say the event is geared toward creating an
intimate atmosphere of effortless networking.

They say tit will allow for an open
exchange of ideas, information, inspiration and candid discussions of the
issues and opportunities facing everyone in today’s luxury wedding industry.

Wedding tourism is traditionally
one of the more recession-resistant sectors. Destination weddings are popular,
said Rebecca Grinnals of Engaging Concepts, consultants to the wedding
industry.

She said the average size of a
wedding party is 77 guests, meaning that the economic benefit of a destination
wedding in Cayman is notable. Many of these guests are incremental, she added,
meaning that it is their first time at a destination that they may not have
otherwise visited.

Often these visitors return for
future vacations, she said, noting that many different businesses including
hair and makeup providers, spas, horse and carriage drivers, and entertainments
benefited from a destination wedding, as well as the obvious businesses
involved, which include wedding organisers, restaurants and hotels.
