Rooster Shootout has many hooked

The Kirk Group Rooster Shootout
fishing competition which was rescheduled due to bad weather is on this
weekend.

The shootout will now begin
Saturday morning with the Bimini start in George Town Harbour at 8:30am.

Fishing will commence immediately
after the Bimini start Saturday. Sunday and Monday the fishing will start at
6am through 4pm.

The public is invited to the weight
stations at Grand Harbour Dock each day starting at 4pm to 6pm.

This is a great way to see the anglers
and their catch that make the Rooster Shootout the exciting tournament that it
is.

A new twist to the Al La Kebab
Brown Bag Jackpot, the prize money will be funded with U$1,500.

Each boat that decides to
participle can enter for CI$200/U$250. This money will be added to the total
purse.

The jackpot final amount will be
determined by the total amount that enters it. Each blue marlin catch and
release by the boat will receive 200 points with 250 points given for the first
blue marlin caught each day.

A white marlin and sail fish catch
and release is worth 300 points if a white marlin or sailfish is the first
released for the day the points for it will still remain 300 points.

One point is awarded for each pound
of fish weight from other qualifying species (tuna, wahoo or dolphin). The
boats with the most point will receive 50 per cent of the total purse. Second
place will receive 25 per cent, and third will receive 15 per cent.

Boats sail from the Barcadere
Marina into the North Sound for this classic tournament. Last year a 88.7 pound
yellow fin tuna won the category followed by a 55.2 pound wahoo and a 25 pound
mahi mahi. Classic fishing in the most beautiful of surroundings. No wonder it
is so popular.

The Rooster Shootout is the Cayman
Islands premiere fishing tournament.  Now
in its eighth year it continues to excite and give fun to all those involved.
